About Myogen Steve Stucky
Zen priest Myogen Steve Stucky is Co-Abbot of San
Francisco Zen Center in residence at Green Gulch Farm in Marin Country. He received dharma transmission as a mature
zen teacher from Abbot Sojun Mel Weitsman in 1993 in the lineage of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi. He is the senior teacher of Dharma
Eye Zen Centers in Marin.
He has been practicing Zen for thirty years and
is one of the original members of the elders council at San Francisco Zen Center. Besides training at Tassajara and San Francisco,
he landscaped the organic vegetable farm development at Green Gulch Zen Temple, where he was in residence for seven years
in the 70's.
Steve is a past president of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association.
He also has completed a doctoral program in advanced pastoral counseling with the Lloyd Center for Pastoral Counseling in
San Anselmo, and has completed level two training in Internal Family Systems Therapy. He is currently on the faculty of Shogaku
Zen Institute which is developing programs for training Zen priests in the Shunryu Suzuki lineage of Soto Zen.
Dharma Eye Sangha grew out of a meditation group that met in his home for
many years. The community built a small zendo and temple in San Rafael where they practiced for ten years. The community now
meets on Monday nights at Falkirk mansion in San Rafael, and offers retreats as well.
Steve lives with his wife Lane in Rohnert Park and is a father of three adult children. For many years he was a landscape
designer/contractor well known for his Zen gardens and waterfalls.
